v0.160 - Bountiful Buffs
Heyo, it's time for some development news on your maybe-favorite alchemy game once again. This is a relatively small but very important update, as it's centered on the implementation of the final in-run progression system: buffs. These are augmentations to the player themselves rather than their equipment, giving a lot more freedom in what can be added. Buff effects range from simple stat boosts, to extra on-kill effects, to modifications to the player's base abilities, and who knows what else.
Buffs can only be acquired by spending arcane tokens in a special shop the player accesses between floors. The arrangement of buffs is randomized with each visit, with each buff having a rarity that determines its price. Additionally, you'll meet a friendly face here to help you along your journey.
Aside from fixing some issues and probably introducing new ones, that is about it for this update. I didn't have much time to work on the game for the past few months, and it took some time to get all the content done. I am very close to full feature completion, what remains is unlocking new content through in-run challenges, modifiers that affect your run's parameters, and revamps to some of the systems. The game is in desperate need of new enemies, I will try my best to alleviate that issue by the next build.
